Edmonton Community Neurology Support Foundation is an established non-profit organization delivering neurological care to patients across Northern Alberta. We treat patients diagnosed with conditions including Alzheimer disease, Parkinson disease, Migraine, Multiple Sclerosis, and Seizure disorders.

Coping with the diagnosis of a neurological condition is often difficult. Patients suffer with anxiety and/or depression, financial issues, and coping with changes in their physical abilities. We are seeking a psychologist for individual counseling, group therapy sessions, and educational programs designed to help patients better understand and manage their condition. We believe that this initiative has the potential to make a real difference in the lives of many people living with neurological disorders.

About the Role

We are seeking a part-time contract Mental Health Therapist to work collaboratively with inter-professional team members to provide timely mental health assessment and treatment to patients and their families. Our clinics are based in Edmonton.

Mental Health Therapists will:

• Conduct comprehensive bio-psycho-social mental health assessments.
• Develop treatment plans and formulate diagnoses.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to support the client in achieving therapeutic goals.
• Carry out case management functions.
• Advocate on behalf of patient as appropriate.
• Contribute as an active member of an inter-professional team.
• Follow agency policy and practice regarding maintenance of health records.

Job Details

1. Seeking a contract psychologist to provide psychotherapy services for adults. Must have training and experience in providing behavioural, cognitive, and mindfulness approaches to therapy. Knowledge and experience in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy would be a significant asset.

Contractor must be a fully registered psychologist with professional liability insurance.  The ideal candidate for this position is an individual with a warm and dynamic personality and demonstrates enthusiasm and conscientious work habits.

Minimum hourly rate: $45.00

Maximum hourly rate: $50.00

Qualifications/Requirements

• Registered and in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
• Must maintain individual professional liability/malpractice insurance.
• Comfortable doing in-person (in-office) and remote (telehealth) sessions.
• Technology based skills knowledge.
• Competence in the application of DSM 5-TR for assessment, treatment planning, and delivery of care
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Adherence to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as outlined in CAP.
• Counselling populations may include adults or couples.
