Permanent Full-Time Position

Working as a key member of the Team-Based Care Program, the Mental Health Therapist provides services to patients with mental health issues.  These services include assessment, treatment, clinical consultation, case management and referrals. This position provides service to the Leduc Beaumont Devon PCN to assist PCN member physicians and the multidisciplinary team.   

Key Responsibilities:
• Participate in the delivery of Mental Health services within the PCN by conducting assessments and short- term therapy for patients with mild to moderate mental health issues.
• Act as a resource to multidisciplinary team members.
• Act as a liaison between PCN physicians and linking patients to other agencies (e.g. FCSS, AHS Addictions and Mental Health, Victim Services, etc.).
• Provide short-term solution focused therapy up to 8 sessions.
• Deliver and Develop group psycho-education classes and/or group therapy.

• Completion of one of the following programs:  Master’s degree in Psychology, Master’s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) with Psychosocial Intervention Authorization, Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy with experience in MH assessment and provision of psychotherapy, Master’s degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training in MH assessment and provision of psychotherapy.
• Active registration in good standing with regulatory college in Alberta.
• A minimum of 3 years recent experience working with community-based mental health services.
• Ability to make professionally autonomous decisions in coordinating patient care in a decentralized model.
• Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong effective written and oral communication skills.
• Current criminal record check.
• Must have own vehicle and valid driver’s license.

Salary, Benefits and Hours of Work:
• Working hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm with occasional late afternoon or evening work required. Flexible work hours including a compressed work week are available.
