Mental Health Therapist – Grimshaw (Permanent - Full-time 1.0 F.T.E.)
The Mental Health Therapist works as part of an interdisciplinary team that works with Patients of Grimshaw Medical Clinic and other referrals within the Peace Region Primary Care Network. The Mental Health Therapist’s primary function is to deliver patient-centred care through both individual and group settings through the use of clinical counselling and education sessions. Sessions will address mental, emotional, and/or social functioning.
Duties include intake screening, crisis intervention, mental health assessment, diagnostic and treatment services with related record keeping of services to adults with mental and emotional problems (including family members) and can include potential travel within the Region. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor. The Mental Health Therapist may be assigned to work primarily with one service, a combination of services or across all services. Occasional travelling to remote sites will be part of the ongoing service provision expected. The intended start date is June 1, 2019.
Registration: Registration with the appropriate licensing body (College of Alberta Psychologists or Counselling and Psychotherapy Association of Alberta).
Education: Master’s Degree (or higher) in Psychology or Social Work with a clinical specialization.
Experience: Minimum of three years’ experience (post Registration) in Mental Health, including relevant clinical experience with adults. Experience working in multidisciplinary teams. Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Other: Clear criminal background check. Possession of a valid Alberta driver’s license and access to a motor-vehicle for work-related travel is required.
