Besides the increase in addiction-related deaths, addictions are flourishing and profoundly affecting our society. Some experts estimate that up to 47% of Canadian adults are either addicted or entrenched in behavioural excesses to something each year. This does not include the impact on the people they know. A noted authority recently said that addiction is already taking our children… and it is going to take us. This one-hour primer provides current information about substance addictions (e.g., alcohol, cannabis, opioids, nicotine, stimulants, hallucinogens) and behavioural addictions (e.g., gambling, Internet/gaming, sex, love, food, exercise, shopping, work). Is there no escape from addiction? There is! The webinar concludes with a look at prevention through multi-level implementation using a simple Dr. Alderson acronym.
