Job Summary: Play Therapist will provide trauma-informed therapeutic interventions to children ages 3-12, supporting their emotional, social, and developmental well-being. Working closely with caregivers, internal teams, and external partners, creating a safe space for children to express themselves through play and develop coping strategies for life’s challenges. The Play Therapist works as part of the Community Healing & Wellness multi-disciplinary team supporting and executing holistic care plans for each child to enhance psycho-emotional, educational and social success. Term/Contract Position.

Job Duties and Qualifications:
•Evaluate the effectiveness of counselling programs and interventions, and clients’ progress in resolving identified problems and movement toward defined objectives.
•Develop and implement counselling and intervention programs to assist clients in determining goals and means of attaining them.
•Establish an environment where children can explore and heal through play in a trauma-informed setting.
•Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure wraparound supports for children and families, including warm referrals to internal and external services.
•Educate and guide parents/guardians throughout their child’s therapy journey, ensuring a collaborative and supportive approach.
•Preferred: Master’s degree in psychology, Social Work, or Counselling.
•Secondary: Bachelor’s degree in social work with five (5) plus years’ experience in counselling may be considered.
•Registration with the appropriate, applicable professional designation will be required.
•Able to write comprehensive assessments and maintain appropriate clinical/client/administrative records are required.
•Must belong to a relevant Professional Association or in the process of submitting application.
•Valid drivers license required.
•Must pass a yearly Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
