SENIOR PSYCHOLOGIST – POSITION OVERVIEW
CCC is seeking a Registered Psychologist with a minimum of five years of clinical experience to join the team as a Senior Psychologist. Supervisory experience is preferred but not mandatory. This role involves providing in-person and/or virtual counselling services to individuals, couples, families, and groups, while also offering supervision to Provisional Psychologists and staff counsellors. The position requires onsite presence three days per week, with flexible work arrangements to support a healthy work-life balance.
The Senior Psychologist will deliver counselling services in alignment with CCC’s principles and practices, ensuring that all administrative requirements are met promptly. In addition to clinical responsibilities, this role includes providing administrative supervision to interns and residents as needed. Senior Psychologists at CCC are expected to comply with agency standards and promote a culture of respect, integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

REPORTING STRUCTURE
This position reports directly to the Chief Counselling Services (CCS) and/or Associate Director Counselling Initiatives. The role is part of the Counselling Initiatives department.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION
- Provide leadership to counselling staff and students, offering regular supervision, support, and training.
- Mentor staff and provide clinical debriefing, particularly in complex cases.
- Lead regular team meetings, fostering an environment of collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor the performance of team members, development of goals, and professional growth.
- Conduct assessment interviews and complete standard documentation according to protocols as required or as deemed necessary.
ADMINISTRATIVE OVERSIGHT
- Complete FIT session notes after each session; ensure OQ, SRS, and SNAP details are completed correctly.
- Complete any reports and/or summaries as specified in the program checklist.
- Administer and communicate CCC’s clinical and administrative protocols.
- Maintain recording procedures on all client systems after each contact including counselling session notes, outcome measures, and summaries documenting ongoing client sessions; ensure files are stored in file room.
- Ensure that client information release forms are signed consistent with the Centre’s policies and procedures and that custody agreements are reviewed where appropriate.
- Effective writing of agency reports including child welfare assessments and reports using templates provided and consulting where necessary.
- Ability to work autonomously yet seek timely feedback from peers or supervisor, as appropriate.
COUNSELLING SERVICES
- Provide confident and supportive counselling to a broad range of clients, individuals, couples, families, and groups, that present multi-faceted problems of a complex nature, including court-mandated, children’s groups and other third-party requests for services.
- Provide counselling services aligned with FIT requirements adhering to the principles of the Centre and professional ethical guidelines.
- Collaborate with external community resources to support comprehensive client care.
- Facilitate a variety of groups within the agency as requested.
- Required to see clients in group or individually two evenings or an evening and Saturday each week.
- Accept intakes and contact clients to arrange appointments, responsible for meeting monthly face-to-face targets.
- Provide clinical support in assigned specialty areas, consulting with staff as required.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND CONSULTATION
- Provide ongoing consultation to staff regarding client progress, offering guidance as needed.
- Attend required relevant in-services, conferences, courses, seminars, and workshops.
- Participate in ongoing training, professional development, and networking opportunities to stay current with industry’s best practices.
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION
- Assist in the development of new counselling initiatives and evaluate existing programs to ensure they meet community needs and the Centre’s goals.
- Ensure availability to be supervised during group, family, couple, and individual counselling session on an ad hoc basis and utilize feedback provided.
- Maintain liaison with CCC staff and community resources as appropriate to enhance individual case plans.
- Participate in research or outcome measurement requirements.
- Participate in fundraising events when requested.
- Facilitate family and collateral contact on behalf of the client system, when necessary.
- Available to cover and/or support intake and quick responses as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in psychology.
- Registered status with professional body.
- 5 or more years’ work experience in direct/related fields.
- Strong supervisory and mentoring experience with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Pass a Police and Child Welfare check.
- Knowledge and passion for the innovative development and expansion of counselling services.
- Strong communication and relationship building skills.
- Requires complex and critical thinking skills; take the initiative to impact the success of their area of responsibility.
