Registered Psychologist (Contract / Per Diem)

(Approximately 5 families to start, with potential for more)

New Heights School & Learning Services runs a unique specialized program tailored to preschool age children (2.5 – 7 years old) with autism spectrum disorder, or have similar learning differences. New Heights Home & Community Support (HCS) is a play-based program that utilizes the strengths and interests of each child to address developmental goals. We value the uniqueness of each child and see the autistic child as not needing to be fixed but rather supported in their unique ways of perceiving the world. The HCS team works alongside parents teaching them how to support their autistic child’s needs, building resiliency for both the parent and child so that the family as a whole is successful in their day to day activities.

HCS is currently looking for a registered Psychologist (or Provisional Psychologist) to provide services for families throughout the city. This position will include providing intervention and consultation services in families’ homes and in the community, which means there will be significant daily time on the road. A love for driving and playing with children would be definite assets. The current available caseload is 5 families, with a potential for more.

The ideal candidate will:

  • be a flexible team member with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • hold professional registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists
  • have current professional liability insurance
  • have experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder
  • have their own vehicle and be comfortable with daily driving
  • be available to work weekdays between 8:30-6:00 (fit your work hours in within that timeframe as we do not run on weeknights or weekends)
  • enjoy playing and value wellness

What we offer:

  • time compensation for travel as well as paid mileage ($0.72/km)
  • flexible schedule
  • access to professional development funds
  • a multidisciplinary team of fun and caring staff
  • a culture that values work-life balance, as well as personal and professional growth

All applicant submissions are appreciated, however, only those selected for interviews will be contacted.

Resumes will be received until the position is filled.  Start date is available immediately and is flexible. For more information or to submit your resume and cover letter please contact: Betty Heung at betty.heung@newheightscalgary.com
