Clinical Psychology (Assistant or Associate Professor)
The Department of Psychology at Concordia University of Edmonton invites applications for a full-time appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology. The area of specialization is open, though expertise with adults, older adults, health psychology, and/or neuropsychology is desired. Depending on the demonstrated capabilities, experience, and skill set, the successful candidate for this position may assume the role of overseeing the operation of the Psychology Clinic, internship practica, and/or clinical training.

This position’s start date is negotiable with a preference for either January 1, 2025 or July 1, 2025.
Qualifications:
- PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology, counselling psychology, school psychology, or clinical neuropsychology from a CPA- or APA-accredited program.
- Registration (or registration eligibility) as a Psychologist in Alberta.
- Experience advising and supervising student research, dissertations, and clinical work; more than five years is preferred.
- Excellence in both research and teaching, or strong potential to develop such excellence.
- A willingness and ability to take on supportive academic administrative duties, including overseeing doctoral student practicum placements.
- Demonstrated ability to work collegially as a team member with a variety of teams and stakeholder groups.
- Familiarity with educational and clinical technologies, with an aptitude to learn new software as required, including online web-based psychological testing.
An ideal candidate would also have:
- CPA-, APA-, and/or APPIC-accredited predoctoral internship/residency.
- Experience as a professor within a Clinical PsyD or PhD program.
- Knowledge of CPA-accredited doctoral programs in clinical psychology, with a commitment and ability to advance the quality and content of the PsyD program, courses, initiatives, and student learning experience.
- Interest in serving in a leadership capacity within the PsyD program.
Housed within the Faculty of Arts, the Psychology Department has the largest undergraduate enrollments on campus, an energetic close-knit faculty, and a unique applied emphasis undergraduate program. It offers three undergraduate programs and a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program in clinical psychology. The PsyD program includes a state-of-the-art training clinic in the Allan Wachowich Centre for Science, Research, and Innovation.
The successful applicant will exemplify excellent professional citizenship and act as a role model in the field. They will advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students, teach and supervise students in PsyD program, and supervise dissertation research. They will demonstrate commitment to, and understanding of, the scholar-practitioner model and participate in ongoing PsyD program development. Additionally, they will demonstrate expertise in their specialty area and engage in ongoing research and scholarship, regularly pursuing external funding. The program would welcome and encourage existing clinical practice with the responsibilities of this faculty position.

The normal teaching assignment is 18 hours per academic year. In addition, the successful candidate must assume academic service duties and will be committed to growing the diversity of and building professional relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the broader community. Holding an administrative position (i.e., Chair of Clinical Training or Professional Practice Lead) within the PsyD program will come with a teaching reduction.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience as per Concordia’s Faculty Association Collective Agreement.
