OVERVIEW

Nîsohkamâtowin means “the act of helping one another” in Cree. Nîsohkamâtowin Psychology offers mental health services to First Nations communities in Alberta. Our objective is providing a two-eyed seeing approach to psychological services by honouring both indigenous and western ways of knowing. We recruit qualified professionals passionate about providing essential mental health support to deserving communities. We are recruiting a contracted psychologist with experience supporting a variety of clinical situations with a specific interest and competency in supporting addiction. This position would work in a community health centre providing crisis counselling support to individuals and families providing consulting support and direct patient care as part of a comprehensive team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a Registered Psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
  • Free supervision and support are provided to the right candidate.
  • Experience working with indigenous children, adults and families is an asset and cultural awareness with an advanced commitment to reconciliation is essential.
  • Flexibility and ability to travel to northern Alberta communities is essential.
  • Clinical experience supporting a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, adjustment, anger management and addiction is essential.
  • Must be able to work independently as a contractor and cooperatively within a team environment.
  • Must be able to provide a criminal record check and have professional liability insurance and candidates will be supported to work on approval through FNIHB.

CONTRACT

We have several positions. Contract is based on experience/qualification and provided for 1 year with possibility of renewal. Accommodation and travel are provided as part of the contract.
