Formal Clinical Assessment Program Open for Registration!
The Core Competencies for Formal Clinical Assessment program provides an overview of Formal Assessment, from building your test battery, case conceptualization, conducting a clinical interview, to report writing. This course is intended to introduce participants to the basic concepts, theories, and issues in formal assessment prior to taking the advanced practical clinical training for assessment.
Core Competencies of Formal Clinical Assessment takes place over 40 hours, the first two days will be delivered asynchronously while the three remaining days are offered either in-person or online for students that are not located in Edmonton, Alberta. Attached you will find the learning outcomes and objectives for this first course, Core Competencies, in our 200-hour certificate series.
By participating in this first course in the Formal Clinical Assessment program, students will have the opportunity to develop their own personal practice manual, defining their professional and personal philosophy of assessment and how they will develop their skills throughout the Formal Clinical Assessment program.
Students have two options for attendance of the three live lecture days:
- Virtually through zoom, students may attend the live lectures online.
- In-person at our south Edmonton location – depending on the number of in-person attendants the location will be determined closer to the program start date.
Summer 2025 Course Dates:
Online Blended Course: Opens June 5th, 2025.
Online Office Hour: June 18th, 2025 8:00AM – 9:00AM (Online seminar session via Zoom – Mandatory attendance to meet your cohort and instructors).
Second Online Office Hour: July 2nd, 2025 8:00AM – 9:00AM (Online seminar session via Zoom – Optional but we strongly encourage attendance).
Last Day to Submit All Online course requirements: July 9th, 2025.
**PLEASE NOTE: Students who do not complete all online requirements will not be able to move forward with attending the live dates.**
Live Lecture Dates:
Thursday July 10th 9:00AM – 4:30PM
Friday July 11th 9:00AM – 4:30PM
Saturday July 12th 9:00AM – 4:30PM
Upon completing the online and live session requirements for the course, students will receive a certificate for 40 Continuing Education Credits co-sponsored by the CPA.
Cost:
The Core Competencies for Formal Clinical Assessment program is $3000.00 before tax for the 40 hour course. The total cost of the Formal Clinical Assessment program, for all 200 hours of continuing education, is $15,000.00 before tax.

Pre-requisites:
- A copy of their proof of education, a minimum of a Master’s Degree is required to proceed with the Formal Clinical Assessment Program.
- Their Registered Provisional Psychologist or Registered Psychologist number.
