The Sturgeon Public School Division is seeking a Registered Psychologist to join our Learning Services team in a full-time permanent role. This dynamic position plays a pivotal role in supporting student learning, mental health, and staff development across our Division’s 17 school sites—from St. Albert to Redwater, Alberta.

This 10-month position (aligned with the school year) offers a competitive hourly rate of $56.66 to $82.71, reflecting a market adjustment for Registered Psychologists. This position is open to both ATA members and non-members.  If the successful applicant is a member of ATA they will be compensated as per the ATA agreement.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance for psychoeducational assessments and provide actionable recommendations at the school level
  • Support schools in implementing assessment-based strategies
  • Develop and lead professional learning for teachers, school leaders, teacher-counsellors and support staff
  • Understand and address the developmental and social needs of children, youth and families
  • Build strong relationships and collaborate with educators, families, and community partners
  • Maintain clear boundaries and support crisis management and threat assessments
  • Promote trauma-informed practices and community collaboration
  • Contribute to program evaluation, data collection, and threat/crisis management
  • Apply knowledge of First Nation, Metis and Inuit cultures to mentor and model inclusive practices aligned with Truth and Reconciliation efforts

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology or School and Applied Child Psychology
  • Registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education and/or additional training in mental health/wellness is an asset
  • Experience with developmental, cognitive, behavioural, and learning assessments
  • Strong knowledge of interventions to support diverse learning needs
  • Effective communicator, facilitator, and collaborator
  • Tech-savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google, and social media platforms
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or occasional weekends

Additional Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle for travel between school sites
  • A clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector, completed within the past six months
  • Proof of registration/licensure with the appropriate Alberta regulatory college
  • Regulated health professionals under the Alberta Health Professions Act and Health Disciplines Act will be required to show an original copy of a valid practice permit before commencing duties
  • Other professions governed by government acts, college or regulatory body requirements may be required to provide additional documentation
