Senior Staff Psychologist to join the Counselling Team at Foothills Academy

Foothills Academy Society in Calgary, AB (https://www.foothillsacademy.org/) is looking for a Senior Staff Psychologist for our Counselling Psychology team.  The successful individual will work with students, families, and colleagues in a collaborative, strengths-based manner.  This position will also involve training and supervised experience in delivering clinical supervision to trainees, with increased supervision responsibilities over time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be a fully Registered Psychologist for a minimum of two years, who is in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists
• Experience counselling children and adolescents facing a wide variety of challenges, as well as their families
• A strong understanding of neurodevelopmental disorders, particularly Learning Disabilities and ADHD.
• A self-motivated individual with a strong desire for ongoing learning
• Some experience and education in delivering clinical supervision, or a strong desire to learn this skill set.
• A growth-mindset to foster and cultivate the clinical capacity of graduate practicum students and Registered Provisional Psychologists on the Counselling Team

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Provide individual and family counselling services to a caseload of referred Foothills Academy students with Learning Disabilities and comorbid disorders (such as ADHD) in grades 3 – 12, with a wide-variety of presenting concerns, including anxiety/depression; social struggles; gender identity journeys; and parent-child conflict.
• Work closely with the School Principals and the Clinical Supervisor in order to ensure coordinated supports for students over time.
• Provide consultation to the teaching staff and other professionals.
• Conduct psycho-educational workshops for students, parents, and/or staff groups as appropriate.
• Learn to take on Clinical Supervision responsibilities (starting with practicum students, as appropriate).

This is a permanent, 10-month per year, salaried position with benefits that follows a traditional school calendar.  Compensation will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

There is also a year-round opportunity for the successful candidate to provide fee-for-service counselling to other individuals in the Calgary area LD/ADHD community, through our private counselling services, as much as desired.
