Given overlapping scopes of practice, this will be an opportunity to enhance safety through clarity of titles and scopes of practice beyond psychologists.
Those who will likely qualify as Counselling Therapists regulated by the College of Alberta Psychologists are currently eligible for PAA Professional Affiliate Membership (PAM).
In the spirit of health leadership and our commitment to ensuring access to quality support for Albertans, and given the considerable uncertainty for those professionals at this time PAA is waiving the membership dues for professional affiliates (until 31 March 2025).
We appreciate your help in ensuring that respected professionals with at least a master’s degree in social work, psychology, counselling, or psychotherapy who are not registered psychologists are aware of this support while they clarify their professional home.
Most importantly, we need to take a leadership role in navigating this change to the mental health landscape in Alberta and we need your help and direction as members!
These won’t be townhalls as little is known about the future beyond the 01 March 2024 announcement, but this is your PAA Board’s opportunity to learn from you, our members.
