While there will be a brief review of diagnostic criteria, the workshop will address those with an existing knowledge base who are interested in developing greater clinical skills and understanding related to the first responder population.

This two-part webinar series will begin at 9:00 a.m. and finish at 12:00 p.m. on following days: January 24 and 31, 2025. Attendance of all sessions is expected to receive CE credits.

Personality. How often have you heard someone say: “It's just the way I am/She/He is/They are.”? What do you find first comes to mind for you? A word used but often misunderstood and even misapplied at times. A model for the New Big Five is used to zoom in on personality, and four of the five major sections are unpacked. This six-session composition is designed to unpack, educate, reorganize, and vitalize the perception of how to work with your clients.

This one-day professional workshop is designed for psychologists seeking to integrate Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) into their practice. PRT is a novel and revolutionary approach to pain management that retrains the brain to accurately interpret and respond to bodily signals, effectively breaking the cycle of chronic pain.

The practical strategies covered in this workshop are supported by recent innovative neuroscience research that explains what keeps us stuck, and points to how the practice of future oriented mental imagery can generate breakthroughs – to virtually rewriting history; for thriving and not just surviving.

With a plethora of study materials available to prepare for the EPPP, one would think that if an individual dedicates sufficient time, the exam should be a breeze. So why is it such a challenge? Simply put, it’s a lot of information and Provisional Psychologists have busy lives. Most individuals should expect to spend approximately 250 hours studying. In addition to utilizing the various commercial exam preparation materials, there are countless study strategies that boost an individual’s retention and mastery of information.

This workshop is designed to go beyond the study materials, reviewing and practicing techniques to maximize retention of key concepts using evidence-based strategies. Workshop participants will expand their repertoire of learning tactics, gaining insight into the importance of matching strategy to content format, as well as the value of utilizing humour and creativity to boost memory.

Ethical decision-making can be complex at times. This interactive workshop focuses on the how and what of the ethical decision-making process.

Working with suicidal clients is cited as the most stressful activity for psychologists. Even for seasoned clinicians, we find ourselves pressed for time, lacking confidence, and fearful of liability. And, in the last 10 years, suicide prevention has changed dramatically; what we thought helped (i.e., structured assessments, hospitalizations) may actually hurt and does not follow our ethical responsibilities to maximize benefits and minimize harms. This workshop is designed to support clinicians effectively working with suicidal clients, including (a) understanding your attitudes towards suicide, (b) learning about advances in suicide prevention research, and (c) developing and practicing skills to incorporate into your practice.

Performance can be conceptualized as a demand, a goal, a dream, a wish, etc. Working in the field of human performance, we all work with others who are striving for a higher-performing self. In the context of this workshop, a focus on sport and performing arts will help define our attention, although I am sure concepts learned here apply well elsewhere also. You can expect to acquire a theoretical understanding of goal-setting thinking, underpinned by achievement goal theory, and participate actively in discussions and experiential activities, while inviting reflection from past participants via vignettes. Workshop participant engagement is key to maximizing learning outcomes and objectives. This day-long workshop is designed to reinforce influences you currently use and simultaneously deepen your perception of performance.
