The Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) is a standardized test commonly used for admission to graduate programs, including master’s and doctoral degrees, at universities around the world. Administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS), the GRE is typically offered in two formats:
The GRE Psychology Test:
The GRE Psychology Subject Test consists of approximately 144 multiple-choice questions designed to assess foundational knowledge in psychology. The questions cover core concepts typically encountered in undergraduate psychology courses and may require test-takers to recall information, analyze relationships, apply theoretical principles, interpret data, or evaluate research methodologies.
The graduate psychology programs listed in the Research Programs timeline node do not currently require the GRE for admission. However, many other programs/institutions outside of Alberta or Canada may require the GRE to be completed. If you are applying to an institution different than those listed in the Research Programs timeline node, be sure to check if the GRE is a required part of the application process.
If the institution you are applying for requires the GRE, the below links from the Educational Testing Service (ETS) website may be useful for you.
