What is a Psychologist?

Psychologists study how we think, feel, and behave from a scientific viewpoint and apply it to help people understand, explain, and change their behavior. Psychologists are experts in making sense of thoughts, emotions, and behaviours and what steps are necessary for change in each area. They can provide services in Mental health assessments and diagnosis, therapy for mental health issues, support managing the impact of physical or mental illness, and assistance with personal, social, and career development. Psychologists offer support to individuals, couples, families, and groups of people. You can find psychologists working in hospitals or community clinics. They might have their own private practice or work at a school or social service agencies.
