Psychology Month: Associate Minister Luan
Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Jason Luan issued the following statement on Psychology Month: Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Jason Luan issued the following statement on Psychology Month:
“Celebrated every February, Psychology Month recognizes the many contributions of Alberta’s approximately 4,000 registered psychologists and registered provisional psychologists.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has had and continues to have a significant affect on the lives of Albertans. Every day, dedicated psychologists work diligently to help individuals and families through this difficult time. On behalf of the Alberta government, thank you for your contributions.
“From health settings to schools to private practices, psychology has a positive affect on the minds and behaviours of Albertans. By understanding how we think and act, we are better equipped to become our best selves as well as overcome mental health and addiction challenges.
“This month, Albertans are encouraged to learn more about the science of psychology and explore the many ways it can have a positive impact on our lives and communities.
“In addition to psychologists, many supports and services are available to help people experiencing mental health or addiction challenges. Call the Mental Health Helpline at 1-877-303-2642 or the Addiction Helpline at 1-866-332-2322 for more information.”
