As practitioners, it can be challenging to help less talkative clients notice the
precious anti-problem skills that coexist quietly in the shadows alongside
hardships, and could spark life-changing differences if they were articulated,
boosted and used intentionally.

We know that a problem never means an absence of relevant skills. People
have multiple versions of themselves and make micro-adjustments to
preserve what matters even when they don’t notice this themselves. When
these hidden abilities become visible, profound shifts can happen quickly.
How can we best facilitate this dignifying process for clients who are initially
less forthcoming verbally?
