Bio for Referral Service: The feedback I often hear from clients I work with is that I am really grounded, knowledgeable, and comfortable to talk to. I will provide a safe and supportive space that is free of judgment in order to help you explore concerns that matter to you. Sometimes people arrive at counselling not knowing what they are looking for. I will bring my expertise to provide an assessment and develop interventions to provide you with the skills and confidence to help you make meaningful changes in your life. I am a Registered Psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists and a member of the Psychologists Association of Alberta with more than 12 years clinical practice experience in providing counselling psychotherapy. I am competent in providing counselling services to individuals, couples, adults and youth (ages 12 to 18). I use a variety of therapeutic models and methods within an integrative therapeutic framework and have completed extensive professional trainings including EMDR, ART, EFT, DBT, CBT, ACT, Somatic and Mindfulness-based therapies among others. I would describe my therapeutic approach as strength-based, trauma-informed and attachment oriented. I tend to focus on relationships and developmental experiences to ground my work. Life stresses can produce useful temporary coping strategies that can become habitual patterns such as emotional numbing, avoiding conflict, outburst of anger, or otherwise protecting against “bad things” from happening again. Although these reactions served some usefulness at one time they can remain persistent as symptoms of anxiety, depression, anger, avoidance etc. I address the roots of these symptoms in order to facilitate robust and lasting positive change.
